The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is a one-year compulsory program for universities and polytechnic graduates below 30 years old. This program was organized to instill discipline in young people and teach patriotism and loyalty to their nation.

How to Register for NYSC: Eligibility Requirement

Even though all Nigerian graduates (universities and polytechnics) are eligible to take part in this one-year mandatory program, there are some eligibility requirements that must be met. 

To be eligible, you must: 

  • Have completed your tertiary education from a recognized institution within Nigeria or abroad.
  • Be within the age range of 18 to 30.
  • Have a valid means of identification (e.g. national ID card, passport, etc.)
  • Be medically and physically fit.
  • Not have any criminal records.

Document Needed to Register for NYSC

  • NYSC call-up letter
  • Statement of result (B.Sc or HND)
  • Final year I.D Card
  • NYSC green card
  • Recent passport photograph
  • Medical fitness certificate

Requirements for NYSC Online Registration

To ensure a smooth registration process, the following registration requirements are important

  • Ensure that you have functional e-mail addresses.
  • Correct jamb and matriculation numbers are necessary
  • Your recent passport photographs should make your face fully visible without bending, and make sure it is of white background without shadow. 
  • Take note of the finger used for biometric capturing and you will need it for verification at the orientation camps.
  • Upload copies of your marriage certificates, proof of name change, and your husband’s place of domicile if you are a married female. 
  • If you are a part-time graduate, register online and print exclusion letters
  • As a foreign graduate, ensure that your institutions are accredited and also use Nigerian Phone numbers during online registration.

How To Upload Documents To The Nysc Portal

Before we go to the step involved in how to register for NYSC, it is important that you know how to upload your document to the NYSC registration portal. 

To upload your document: 

  • Visit https://portal.nysc.org.ng/ 
  • Log in with your e-mail address 
  • Navigate to the “Certificate Upload” page
  • Click the “Add New Document” button below.
  • Select the file you want to upload from your computer 
  • Click the “Upload” button.
  • The document will be uploaded to your account
  • You can then view it whenever you want.

How to Register for NYSC: Process

Now, here is a step-by-step guide to registering for NYSC online

  • Visit https://portal.nysc.org.ng/ 
  • Click the ‘Mobilization’ button and create an account
  • Enter your active email address and the secret question. 
  • Confirm your email and answer, and press the green ‘Continue’ button.
  • Open the confirmation email sent to you, and click the link.
  • Click the ‘Resume’ button to continue.
  • Select your country (nationality)
  • Select your institution of study.
  • Enter your JAMB Registration number.
  • Fill in your Matric or ID number
  • Select your program from the dropdown menu.
  • Enter your preferred password and confirm it in the next field.
  • Enter your number and re-enter it in the following field to complete the process.
  • Scroll down to enter your name in this order surname, first name, middle name, date of birth, and date of graduation
  • Click ‘Continue’ to proceed 

You will be redirected to compile a four-step process.

  1. You are required to fill in your biodata: 
  • Upload your passport (15kb)
  • Fill in your personal data (gender, title, name, place of birth, marital status, etc.), health details, address, next of kin, contact in case of emergency and death. 
  • Press the “Save and Continue” option to continue 

2. Fill in the fields about the institution attended with the correct information 

  • Enter primary, secondary, and foundation courses. 
  • Complete the process by clicking “Save and Continue.”

3. Complete the fields with other details and appointments. 

  • Such as military personnel, paramilitary and national award honours, 
  • Nigerian languages you speak and, and kit specifications (shirts, trousers, and canvas). 
  • Upload your signature and press ‘Preview’ to complete the step.

4. Select your center from the drop-down menu

  • Upload all the necessary certificates and press ‘Proceed’
  • A preview page will be displayed with your registration details
  • Cross-check to be sure that the information provided is accurate.
  • If you are satisfied, Check/tick the small “I Agree” box to confirm all the information given is correct.
  • Then Click the ‘Submit’ option to complete the process officially.

Your application will be reviewed.  However, only eligible candidates will be selected. 

How to Re-deploy

Redeployment is mostly from the state of deployment and is common among married female corpers.

However, if you wish to relocate from your current state of deployment, you must submit an application that includes the following documents:

  • Marriage certificate
  • Newspaper publication for change of name.
  • Letter from husband’s employer.
  • Husband means of identification.

Yes. Part-time graduates must register as soon as the registration portal opens in order to print your exclusion letter from your dashboard.

How much does NYSC registration cost?

Online NYSC registration is free, however, you have to pay for your Call-up number, which costs around Two Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N2,500)

Also, NYSC accredited cyber cafe charge between N1,000 and N1500. 

However, if you paid for the online registration before but were not mobilised, you don’t need not pay again.
